Lodestone Golf Club is an 18-hole Semi-Private golf course located in McHenry, Maryland.
The Lodestone Golf Course opened for play in 2010. The course was designed by Hale Irwin and Todd Schoeder.
Lodestone Golf Club was ranked as the #2 Best Course You Can Play in Maryland by Golfweek Magazine, 2011. The par-72 Lodestone plays to 7,507 yards from the championship tees and features bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways to deliver the very best of championship playing conditions for the most demanding golfer. The course is located on an expansive mountain ridge above Deep Creek Lake and the well known Wisp Resort, at the fingernail of western Maryland that scratches the borders of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. It sits at 2,973 feet, the highest point in Maryland. Lodestone plays like a mountain course, with climbs and plunges throughout the round, including a 110-foot drop from tee to green at the 13th. Rock outcroppings, artistically sculpted bunkers and panoramic vistas of Deep Creek Lake add to the ambiance. Folks making a weekend of it can check in at Lodestone's next-door sibling, the Wisp Resort, which has a solid course of its own, but Lodestone is now the reason to visit the area.
Lodestone plays to a par of 72. The back tees measure 7,507 yards and the front tees are set at 5,304 yards. The finishing hole is the longest playing to 608 yards from the back tees. The shortest hole is #5 measuring 177 yards from the tips.

Was in the area on vacation and really liked the course. Meanders through woods at the top of the mountain. For a mountain course not too much up and down hills. A few too many blind shots and made it difficult not knowing the course. Hit one of my best drives and got up to where the ball should have been and realized there was a hill that kicked everything to the left and never found a drive that hit in left center of the fairway. Local knowledge would be a real plus. Only downside is there really isn't a clubhouse to speak of. It wasn't a problem as we went back to the house we were renting.

Day 82 - 100 days, 100 courses (Monday, June 3, 2019)
I woke up with zero expectations. I was looking out at a ski slope, my knees were bothering me and it was cold.
I decided to go early, get it over with and move on. Boy was I surprised.
Fantastic course on the top of the mountain carved through a beautiful forest. You never felt other holes or even other people.
What a hidden gem.
Fairways were generally narrow with a lot of elevation changes and interesting hazards.
I shot an 86 with 2 lost balls.
